"Fashion is so often presented in our culture as a thing of froth, which of course,
it partly is; but the bubbles are blown with such care and a sense of values."
- Anna Wintour

Ordinary Objects

The little human detail can become a leitmotif.
~Henri Cartier-Bresson

Music compliments photos well. Obvious yes,
Like cigarettes and coffee? Maybe. You know what I mean.

Small Obessions

Cass Bird

I've been collecting her photos since 2010.  Some here some there. Yet, it wasn't till yesterday that I realized my small obsession with this photographer. Some photos I didn't even know were even taken by her and yet, I still collected them with the assumption that they were by some other unknown. It wasn't till I went through her portfolio that I realized how many I have been inspired by over the years. It was errie how the connection didn't hit me till now...
She brings me hope that strange tastes have the ability to excel today in such an over saturated  world of false images. We forget sometimes that natural spontaneity and the human form are beautiful in themselves and the need for manipulation is overrated.

Combine this with her obsession with Daria and you could understand my infatuation with her work.

I don’t think of myself as ‘a fashion person,’” Bird says. “I think my interest was always about people, and it still is that. The obsession with seeing someone and letting them see you, that moment is pretty f---ing profound."

Only in Paris: Elie Saab

Wednesday 3:30pm. Thank god for a smoke break, without the smoke.

As a group of us casually stood amongst ourselves to discuss the follies of our school, a random man ( whos' name I am unable to disclose ?) came out of thin grey air in his little white voiture.
He loitered in his car till he found our attention:
"Excuse, Excuse..Vous êtes étudiants d'une école de mode?" That much I understood. Then there was something something about "un defile de mode" and "Elie Saab". I think he found my attention. As my interest perked I saw him wave two invitations from his car.

You must understand, it was the last day of fashion week. I knew the Elie Saab show was at 4:30.
It was instinctual to leap.
As a friend translated his french and I stood idly wondering what the hell was going on, he handed us two tickets and drove off. We stood there speechless. How to explain this to the marketing professor?

Only in Paris, only in Paris...
